Un simile ribaltamento dei ruoli di genere si riscontra anche in Westworld, tratta da un film del 1993, creata da Jonathan Nolan e Lisa Joy e da loro coprodotta insieme a J.J. Abrams per Hbo: uno sci-fi distopico ambientato in un futuro prossimo in cui è stato creato un parco a tema western popolato da androidi identici agli umani, per soddisfare ogni desiderio e istinto più basso degli uomini.
